How to get to Gram's Place...
... From Airport 1. The Tampa International Airport is 9 miles away. A Shuttle Service to get downtown and around Tampa is available most of the time for half the cab fare. Bay Shuttle: (813)-259-9998 or Toll Free (866)-259-9929 For one person the best rate is $12 per person and $10 extra person. 2. You can also take city bus #30 "downtown bound" and change to bus #1 at the Marion Transit City Bus Terminal. The busses run approximately every 30 minutes. Ask the bus driver to stop at the first bus stop PAST FLORIBRASKA AVE, just 1 mile north. When you get off the bus you will see Plymouth St. Go left (West) 3 blocks to Ola Ave. You are here! 3. By car (or cab): Exit airport to I-275 North. The first exit past the I-4 exit is EXIT 46B (old exit 29), MLK Blvd. Go down the exit ramp, make a left (west) ½ mile ( 3 traffic lights) to Highland Ave. Do Not turn on Highland Ave. Go past Highland Ave. 2 blocks to Ola Avenue. Turn left (south) ½ mile to Plymouth St. and Ola Ave. in the N.W. area of Historic Tampa Heights. You are here!
... From Amtrak You will arrive at the restored 1912 Union Train Station. If there is no bus available in front of the train station, take a walk to the MARION TRANSIT BUS CENTER: In front of the Train station is a street called ZACK ST. Go the only way you can go which is West on Zack St. (one long long block and two regular blocks) to MORGAN ST. Turn right (Go north) on Morgan st. 5 blocks to the MARION TRANSIT CENTER. Last bus leaves at 10:05pm M-F, 7:30pm on Sat. and 6:40pm on Sun. Get on The Florida Ave bus #1. Ask the bus driver to stop at the first bus stop PAST FLORIBRASKA AVE, Just 1 mile north. When you get off the bus you will see Plymouth St. Go left (West) 3 blocks to Ola Ave. You are here!
... From Greyhound The last bus leaves at 10:05pm M-F, 7:30pm on Sat. and 6:40pm on Sun. Take a short walk to the MARION TRANSIT CENTER (MTC): Go west, 1 block on Polk st. to Morgan st. Turn right (Go north) on Morgan st. 4 blocks to the MTC. Get on the Florida Ave bus #1 Ask the bus driver to stop at the first bus stop PAST FLORIBRASKA AVE, Just 1 mile north. When you get off the bus you will see Plymouth St. Go left (West) 3 blocks to Ola ave. You are here!
Arriving by CAR 1. FROM THE NORTH Take I-275 South to EXIT 46B (old exit 29), that is MLK Blvd. Go west (right turn) ½ mile ( 3 traffic lights) to Highland ave. Do Not turn on Highland ave. Go past Highland Ave 2 blocks to Ola Ave. N. then go south (left turn) ½ mile to the corner of W. Plymouth St. & N. Ola Ave.
2. FROM THE SOUTH Take I-75 North to I-4. Then take I-4 West (towards Tampa,) Just Pass the Ybor City Exit on I-4 get in the right lane. (Note; This is where I- 4 ends at I-275.) Be sure to take I-275 North. The first exit on I-275 North that you will see is EXIT 46B (old exit 29). that is M.L.K. Blvd. Go west (left turn) ½ mile ( 3 traffic lights) to Highland ave. Do Not turn on Highland ave. Go past Highland ave 2 blocks to Ola Ave. N. , then go south (left turn) ½ mile to the corner of W. Plymouth St. & N. Ola Ave.
3. FROM ORLANDO Take I-4 West. (Just Past the Ybor City Exit get in the right lane) and then take I-275 North. The first exit on I-275 North that you will see is EXIT 46B (old exit 29), MLK Blvd. Go west ½ mile & ( 3 traffic lights) to Highland ave. Do Not turn on Highland ave. Go past Highland ave 2 blocks to Ola Ave. N. then go south (left turn) ½ mile to the corner of W. Plymouth St. & N. Ola Ave. in the N.W. area of Historic Tampa Heights.
4. FROM ST. PETERSBURG Take I-275 North ( Past the I-4 Exit) The first exit After the Exit for I-4 is EXIT 46B (old exit 29), MLK blvd. Go down the exit ramp, make a left (west) ½ mile ( 3 traffic lights) to Highland ave. Do Not turn on Highland ave. Go past Highland ave and 2 blocks to Ola Avenue. Turn left (south) ½ mile to Plymouth St. and Ola ave in the N.W. area of Historic Tampa Heights.
5. FROM CLEARWATER Take Highway 60 East to I-275 North. The first exit past the I-4 exit on I- 275 is EXIT 46B (old exit 29), (MLK blvd). Go down the exit ramp, make a left (west) ½ mile ( 3 traffic lights) to Highland Ave. Do Not turn on Highland Ave. Go past Highland Ave and 2 blocks to Ola Avenue. Turn left (south) ½ mile to Plymouth St. and Ola Ave in the N.W. area of Historic Tampa Heights.
IF YOU PLAN ON TAKING A CAB in Tampa , PLEASE READ: TAMPA CAB DRIVERS WILL TAKE YOU ON A LONG LONG RIDE to run up the fare if you let them. You will have to take control of this situation, SO for your sake, PRINT OUT THESE DIRECTIONS AND MAKE SURE THE CAB DRIVER FOLLOWS YOUR ORDERS. Yellow Cab will charge you $1.75 to start and $2.00 per mile. It is 9 Miles from the Airport to Gram's Place and should cost you $20
