Things To Do

Gram's Place is happy to offer:

  • Bicycle rental: Explore Tampa's Neighborhoods by bike. The public buses transport the bikes too  :)              $15 per day

  • Kayak rental: The Hillsborough River and the calm waters surrounding Harbor Island and Davis Island, are ideal for kayakers of any experience level. See mangroves and beautiful mansions, lots of different birds, and maybe a manatee or two and one of the many Bottle Nosed Dolphins that call the Tampa Bay area their home!                     $45 per day (that includes transportation to & from the hostel to the river/launch side! We will also provide a river map and a short introduction to kayaking in our waters).

  • Fishing Tampa's salt water flats: Enjoy hours on the water for local Game fish, Snook, Reds, Trout and Tarpon. Please make a booking for this BEFORE your arrival!

$250 half day - $450 full day for up to 4 people (Prices vary!)

  • Gulf Coast Beaches: Excursions to the beaches for groups of 3 or more

We visit Clearwater  - St. Petersburg Beach and/or Fort DeSoto Park, which was named America’s Top Beach many years in a row and  TripAdvisor, the world's largest online travel community writes: “spectacular combination of soft white sand, calm, clear water and a laid-back atmosphere"

    Tampa Links

Visit Historic Ybor City and it's Cigar Factories, and ride the Vintage Electric Streetcar Line to Channel Side, where the Cruise Ships stop, and Tampa's Florida Aquarium is located.

Walk along Tampa's beautiful Bayshore Boulevard (the world's longest continuous sidewalk, with it's 4.5 miles), and enjoy the affluent neighborhood of Old Hyde Park. Here you will also find a little "village" with unique shops & restaurants.

Plan a day of fun for Busch Gardens,  Adventure Island or Lowery Park Zoo

Of course Disney World, Orlando is only an hours away...

Weeki Wachee Springs (home of live mermaids), and the Historic Bok Sanctuary are also worth a day trip!

Need more MUSIC than we have to offer? (Impossible!)

Enjoy life music at Skippers Smokehouse or catch a concert or other performances at St. Pete Times Forum, Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, The Tampa Convention Center and/or the Historic Tampa Theatre

It's raining in Tampa? No problem => be stimulated at MoSI (Museum of Science and Industry), or learn about Tampa's History at the Historic Tampa Bay Hotel now The University of Tampa or maybe enjoy art at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, or how about gaming for a little bit at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino

Sports Fan? Watch some games at Raymond James Stadium (Football) & Yankee Stadium Legends Field for Baseball

Want to have an outdoor adventure? Visit the beautiful West Coast Beaches of Florida: Clearwater Beaches are only 30 minutes away. Rent a boat or kayak and discover Tampa's Waterways with Channelside Watersports.

Where to Eat/Drink

Tampa's famous Columbia Restaurant, is the oldest restaurant in Florida, from 1905 and located in historic Ybor City. We have lots of cheap local eateries that we can recommend when you are staying at Gram's Place! Just ask!

Nightlife => wonder over to Ybor City or Channelside for the best Bars, Restaurants, Clubs... International Plaza offers some exclusive bars & restaurants as well

Shopping

The International Shopping Plaza & Bay Street at Tampa International Airport offer a nice ambience but is the most expensive mall in Tampa. If you mean to actually spend money in a mall, we recommend Westshore Shopping Mall. Tampa also has a lot of great Thrift- Second Hand and Vintage Stores!

For Outlet Shopping you would have to drive about 1.5 hours south, to Sarasota and the Ellenton Outlet Shopping Mall.

We can give advise when you tell us what you are looking for.
